The Guitar Lesson

Welcome to the guitar lesson. The guitar is one of the most commonly used musical instruments in the world, particularly in Western music. Through the ages, the instrument has evolved and is now available in several different forms. However, a basic acoustic guitar remains the same, that is, a creation made primarily of wood and glue.

Beginners should preferably purchase an acoustic guitar, as learning on an acoustic makes it easier for the player to switch to electric guitars later.
You’d need to set aside a decent budget in order to buy a guitar.

Buying a cheap guitar with a below average sound and sub-par playability will only lead to dissatisfaction. A beginner should preferably take along an experienced guitar player with him/her when buying the guitar as this will increase the likelihood of making the right choice.

The guitar lesson part two
After purchasing a decent guitar, the player should learn a few basic tricks to keep the guitar in good shape. String and fret board polishes are widely available and should be used from time to time. It is also recommended to join a guitar workshop or take lessons online.

Online lessons can be very helpful, and help tackle individual problems for players by enabling them to repeat the lessons over and over again until they’re mastered. For this reason, it is advisable to look for a really good quality online guitar course with lots of really good guitar lessons.

Learning guitar involves doing a lot of exercises to get the fingers up and running. One of the first things beginners notice when playing the guitar is that their fretting hand, or the hand that operates the fret board, is slow. This is mostly because the fingers of the fretting hand are not used much in a simultaneous fashion till they actually start working on the guitar. This is a major hurdle in terms of guitar education, and many beginners fail to get past it due to lack of patience.

As part of the guitar lesson it is recommended that beginners create a practice routine and set aside at least half an hour on a daily basis to concentrate on their guitar practice. Initial practice exercises are very ‘theoretical’ and can be a little boring. These exercises are mostly about strengthening the fingers of the fretting hand and getting them to stretch across multiple frets on the guitar neck. Playing individual notes is also a type of exercise which tests the finger strength in terms of getting the note to sound right. Most of these exercises should be done slowly in the beginning. Speed comes naturally with practice.

Once the player is fully comfortable with these beginner exercises, he/she should move on to more complicated styles of playing, like chords, scales, etc. All these concepts may sound very complicated, but with proper practice, you’ll soon get the guitar lesson down and start mastering them.

The above tips should be definitely kept in mind by beginners who have ambitions of becoming great guitar players. Practice, passion, dedication, and creativity are the four main qualities that make for a great guitar player. So follow the guitar lesson, grab a really good online guitar course to help you learn and practice, practice, practice.
